The New Inn was originally a coaching Inn, conveniently located at the junction of Bridge Street and High Street in the centre of the town. The official address is 27 High Street and these days it is called 'Albany House', a private residence.
It does not appear on many historical records I can find, dating back to the mid-1800s, so must have been one of the towns earliest pubs alongside the Swan Inn, Sun and White Horse. The only record I have found is the 1828 Alehouse Recognizance records, which show a Thomas Blayney running the New Inn (see below).
